I have used Agent for years, but for some reason it is now failing to
work with forums.novell.com and I can’t seem to get any response from
their tech support. Any suggestions for other news readers to use?
This HTML interface is way too slow.

What operating system are you using? (Guessing Windows, but it’s always
good to ask)
Virtual Access is popular amongst the KPs who run Windows.

I took a quick look at it…very confusing. But “ab” gave me a hint
of what to look for and I have Agent working a little better now. So
I will probably just stick with Agent.
Guess I should have mentioned that. Windows 7.[/color]
I use XanaNews on Win7 and it works fairly well. Every now and then
when I launch it I’ll get to where my entire desktop goes black (the
background, not any apps that are running). I’ll highlight the entire
desktop and everything repaints properly. It’s an annoyance but one
that I live with as the newsreader functionality itself is pretty good.

I’ve not used it myself - I use pan on Linu (which is available for
Windows, but I don’t know if the binaries are current or not).

As is Mozilla Thunderbird though if all you want is news capabilities
then it’s a bit of sledgehammer to crack a nut if you’re not also using
it for mail, etc.
HTH.

Do you work with Novell technologies at a university, college or school?
If so, your campus could benefit from joining the Novell Technology
Transfer Partner (TTP) program. See TTP Organization | Micro Focus for more details.

I have Thunderbird for email setup at home for my wife, but I use
GroupWise at work for email. Just need a good newsreader. But I am
so comfortable with Agent that I am hoping I can get it running good
again.

Partially. I went from no problems (for yars), to partial problems
(for a few weeks), to totally unable to connect (for a few days), and
now I am back to partial problems. I’m hoping Forte’s support gets
back to me with some suggestions. The current situation is bearable
short term, but if they can’t fix this, I’ll dump the program and use
something else.
