SLES 11 SP 4 update offline ( no internet connection )

Hello,

I search a simple way to update a sles 11 SP 4 ( no upgrade, only update ), without internet connections and in a very secure lan.

Have you idea ?

Best Regards

Hi
Create a registered test SLE 11 SP4 system/VM and then via YaST create a
add on product or patch CD/USB to take to the system to add the updates.

Or just download all the updates on a device and take to the system and
create a plain rpm repository in a local directory, copy the files to
the directory and then update.

or use a ´disconnected´ SMT server :

HI, ok for download all the update, long time one per one…

But don’t understand "Create a registered test SLE 11 SP4 system/VM and then via YaST create a

"

Add on is for input a soft, not create a export of rpm or other ?

thk

HI,

Best Regards, thk

Hi
If on another system registered and access to the online repositories
(eg a virtual machine) you can grab the existing updates and create a
patch CD/DVD/USB device to deploy to other systems via the YaST tool,
it the adds those rpms (exports in your terms) to the media.

HI,

In fact i have a fresh 11SP4 SLES VM for test, i can kill and restore, no problem

Ok you think at : zypper update --download-only
this create :
 /var/cache/zypp/packages/nu_novell_com:SLES11-SP4-Pool
 and/
var/cache/zypp/packages/nu_novell_com:SLES11-SP4-Updates

What order should for install this RPM ? Download order ?

 THK for you re support.

Hi
Yes, that would work, with the patch cd or rpm’s copied to the storage
media, it doesn’t matter zyyper or YaST software Management will take
care of the order/dependencies it needs.

HI

Sure you have my appreciation, but where is the STAR ?

Ok i must enter : zypper -C /mypath update -t patch --download-only
or some other cmd for have package and patch.

and have you a link to create a CD or iso with this ? yast is not very easy lot of question …

But ok

Best regards

Hi
Either that or as others indicated install SMT to sync the packages. Or
install a new vm and then use the download option to pull them all
down…

Install “Add-On Creator” YaST module and then start YaST and select
this module and it will walk you through the process.
