SLES-11-SP2...DVD2 is too big!

I have recently downloaded SLES-11-SP2…DVD1 and DVD2.

DVD2 is 4.9 Gigabytes.

How do I copy that iso image to a DVD? My DVD is only 4.7 GB?

Also, my image burning software is saying that the iso file is too big. It says the largest iso file it can handle is 4.2 GB?

Can some please tell me how I can get these two DVD’s onto some media so I can boot from them?

Hi
You only need DVD1 to boot/install, DVD2 is just the src rpms which
aren’t need for the install. You can add the iso image as a repository
if you require, or use the online repository.

If you planning to compile any applications, then you will probably
need the SLE 11 SP2 SDK, which again can be added via YaST → Add on
products and just point it at the iso image. Only add after first
registering your SLE install since it will also add the online
repositories;

Again like the above, DVD2 is just src rpms and not needed to be
present for adding DVD1 to your system.

I did learn one thing to share.

I could not copy the 4.9 GB file to my flash drive because it(the flash drive) was formatted as a FAT File System on windows. I reformatted the file system to NTFS and I could copy that file to the flash drive. Then I move the flash driver over to my linux box. Hopefully, my linux box will be able to read my ntfs formatted flash drive. ( I am sure it will)

As a last note on your original question, anytime you need to burn more
than 4.7 GB to a DVD you need a dual-layer DVD. Those are not nearly as
common, but it’s pretty likely any burner purchased in the last several
years can burn them; the DVDs themselves cost more though.

With that said, don’t burn these. They do not do much good compared to
the simplicity of just mounting the ISO and pulling things out, or making
it available via the network somehow… As Malcolm pointed out… just
developer stuff on DVD 2 or higher.
