SLES12 with lksh not ksh93

Hello

We are making to our server by SLES11 SP3 on SLES12 SP1.

There are some Korn shell scripts.

We have searched for example a script of a file to 1.5 GB and line by line distributed in 3 new files according to attributes.

The script ran about 2.5 hours under SLES11 SP3

It requires approx. 50 hrs on SLES12 with SP1 and lksh/mksh

I uninstalled now lksh and mksh-50-2.13.x86_64.rpm installed and linked.

Now, the script iterates in 6.5 hours.

What can be the difference and how do I get back to a runtime of approximately 2.5 hours as under SLES11 SP3

Does anyone have an idea?

Thank you Andy

Sorry,

i uninstalled now lksh and install ksh-93v-4.1.8.x86_64.rpm and linked
and then the script iterates in 6.5 hours.

Thank you Andy

Where did you get the above ksh-93v-4.1.8 package from?

With SLES12 SP1 the KSH 93v package available via the Legacy
module was replaced with KSH 93u for stability reasons - see

Given the Enterprise bit of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server you should not
download and install random packages on SLES from non-SUSE sites as you
won’t be supported by SUSE.

Now i install the ksh93u Package[/color]

I trust this is via the Legacy module?

Please report back. If there is a problem with a SUSE-provided package
it can be reported to SUSE but if you are using a non-SUSE package you
are on your own.

Hey Simon,

I have now used the ksh93u of the Lagacy module.
Now the script took 2.5 hours

That’s about the same time as under sles11 SP3
PERFEKT

Thank you very much and greetings
Andy

hi Simon,
given the history of this topic and your above reply to the thread about “not not downloading random packages, et al”,
is there an official ksh93 rpm package in SuSE-SLES 12.x that IS supported, can you also offer a solution THAT IS SUPPORTED ?

[preferably for SLES 12.2 … ]

regards,
/Stef

ksh is still part of the SLES12 distribution, but no longer appears to be
maintained upstream [1].

With SLES 12, you will also find the mksh (MirrorBSD ksh) clone which is
support, but it needs to be understood that this is not, and does not
claim to be, 100% compatible with ksh.

Thanks
