I want to give a big shout out to the creators of the SLE Classic mode for GNOME 3 on SLED 12.2. Moving all controls to the bottom of the desktop made all the difference for me. At the top, they would compete with controls of the hosting environment that runs my SLED virtual machines for training classes. These controls appear if the student moves the mouse to the very top of the desktop. Therefore, having the application menu etc. at the bottom avoids any confusions. I know, GNOME 3 extensions provide many options to configure the desktop, but SLE Classic saved me the time to figure this out, and anyway I prefer to underload on extensions (keep it simple). So, thanks so much for SLE Classic mode.
