Touchpad stopped workin after Update SP2 / 11

Hello!

I have a HP 635 Notebook with SLED 11 SP2. After updating from SP1 to SP2 the touchpad stopped working.

Kernel says:
Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 7.5, id: 0x1e0b1, caps: 0xd00073/0x240000/0xa0400
input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input1

But touchpad does not work. What can I do?

Hi
Have you checked in the control center it’s enabled? Is gsynaptics
installed?

you have the same problem?

I work at HP

I noted, that there is no output for

 grep -B 5 mouse /proc/bus/input/devices

[color=blue]
Code:

 grep -B 5 mouse /proc/bus/input/devices

[/color]
My output for this command is
Code:

I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Version=01b1
N: Name=“SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad”
P: Phys=isa0060/serio4/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input1
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse0 event1

I have a HP ProPook 4525s. After updating from SP1 to
SP2 the touchpad steel working fine include scrolling, but I cannot
disable it by double trapping to upper left corner like before migration
to SP2. I have the following InputDevice section in my xorg.conf:
Code:

Section “InputDevice”
Identifier “Mouse[1]”
Driver “synaptics”
Option “Buttons” “5”
Option “Device” “/dev/input/mice”
Option “Emulate3Buttons” “on”
Option “HorizScrollDelta” “0”
Option “InputFashion” “Mouse”
Option “Name” “Synaptics;Touchpad”
Option “Protocol” “explorerps/2”
Option “SHMConfig” “on”
Option “Vendor” “Sysp”
Option “ZAxisMapping” “4 5”
Option “VertTwoFingerScroll” “on”
Option “HorizTwoFingerScroll” “on”
EndSection

gsynaptics is installed and work like a charm but it is have not needed option.
Any suggestions?

I will contact the HP support. Please contact me through Private Message.

Update:

  1. touchpad is working fine in BIOS setup program.
  2. touchpad is not working in Windows7/OracleLinux5 virtual machines.

It seems the problem is in synaptics-touchpad driver package.
May be somebody knows repository from that it can be updated?
I browse all evening, but can’t find right repo and I really don’t understand why it is a “big secret”.

It’s really uncool to go to meetings with mouse in a pocket

Isn’t there a package with touchpad driver on HP’s official cite? Reinstallation of this package solved the issue before…

I gave you something to test yesterday in Private Message. Reinstalling the package should work

Built-in free synaptics driver better works for me then the syntp driver
from HP-SLED-Commercial-16.0.0_32.rpm. Scrolling smoother, in my opinion
is easier to control the cursor. I found a bug in bugzilla -
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=765524
Maybe it will be fixed soon (it is also referred to SLED).

Hi, guys!
Arnaud helped me to install HP-SLED-Commercial-16.0.0_64 touchpad driver on my HP ProBook 4530s (Arnaud, thank you!).
Now I do not understand why I was looking for thouchpad driver in linux repos and why I didn’t use HP site to download it! I was complitely blind!
With HP-SLED-Commercial-16.0.0_64 I still have some issues (scrolling isn’t working and touchpad icon disappears from Control Center), but it is working!
Even gestures and touchpad block are working fine.
Thank you all guys!

Some recent update has broken touchpad again. Two-finger scrolling doesn’t work and touchpad scrolling freezes. Nothing interesting can be found in log files. Only while shutting down or rebooting there appears a modal window with this message: “AT SPI Registry Wrapper not responding”. After I choose “Shut down Anyway” there appears another message but I can’t read it because there immediately appears and covers it a bug report window which doesn’t respond itself.

Hi
One wonders with your gimp issue you posted about they may be related?

I don’t know I can say only that this touchpad issue started shortly after a java update.
