Unable to add repo

Dear SuSE Colleagues, I’m finding troubles with zypper.
a) I’m a new user of one SuSE trial from IBM with DB2 installed in it, every thing is working fine, and I manage the system on command line;
b) I would like to install YAST, therefore I checked the installed repositories:
zypper lr
No repositories defined. Use the ‘zypper addrepo’ command to add one or more repositories.
c) and then
zypper ar http://packman.inode.at/suse/SLE_11/packman.repo
Cant open /var/run/zypp.pid in mode w

uname -a
Linux db2v10 3.0.26-0.7-default #1 SMP Tue Apr 17 10:27:57 UTC 2012 (3829766) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

db2v10:/etc # cat SuSE-release
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)
VERSION = 11
PATCHLEVEL = 2

Really I’m not able to understand the message, that appears unknown on google and in SuSE Forums - in a couple hours to navigate - as well.
Now, I would like to get support for the zypper failure and the yast installation.
And possibly, to understand the logic of the pid file.
Thanks for the cooperation.

Hi
It would be;

zypper ar http://packman.inode.at/suse/SLE_11/ packman

No need for the repo bit and the last ‘packman’ is a repo alias.

You need to register with your trial code to add all the rest…

Try:

zypper ar http://packman.inode.at/suse/SLE_11/

Adding repos uses the path, not the repo file. :slight_smile:

Thanks Jim.
Zypper command edited, repos updated.
Well, I’ll use the path for specific repo.
Sorry for the delay, reason code vacation.
Best regards.
