Wi Fi & TpLink TL-WR821N

I have very low skill in Linux, on this please, give me step by step instruktions.

Problem: I have TpLink TL-WR821N WiFi adapter, but for this is only Windows drivers. How install it on Linux SUSE Enterprise Server 11 SP2? If not hard, I would appreciate for instruction on picture (very very Low Linux skill).

Hi GARFT,

That’s not a simple task with this wireless card I’m afraid. It would be much easier (if possible to switch it out or add a new one in on the hardware you are using) to get a WiFI nic that is supported directly in the Linux kernel.

There are no step by step instructions for the TpLink TL cards, but there are some internet forum threads and blog postings you could follow to try and get things working.
Here is an example for what someone has done to get a TL-WN721N card working: https://leonardom.wordpress.com/2010/05/24/install-wireless-usb-adapter-tl-wn721n-driver-on-ubuntu-10-4/

This will require skill and mostly allot of you time. So again I think it’s better to see if you can get yourself a Linux compatible WiFi nic. It should then work out of the box, no extra drivers needed.

Cheers,
Willem

If you require wireless access, here’s another option for you to
consider:
http://www.dlink.com/ca/en/business-solutions/wireless/access-points/stand-alone/dap-2310-airpremier-n-high-port-access-point

What I like about this solution is that SLES thinks you have a standard
Ethernet connection. With access points similar to this one, you just
plug it in and you’re online. Of course, you still have to configure a
static IP address if you want to use one but that is the only Linux
configuration you need.
