How to activate my SUE10sp2 licence to upgrade 11SP4,

Hi,

We have SUSE10SP2 server installed in a physical server (TSM production server) and we are planning to upgrade it to 11sp4. And we have purchased the license for 11SP4.

But how to re-activate my 10sp2 key which was expired long back.

And also please help me to upgrade each levels. In what method we have to upgrade to 11SP4.

My idea is,

From 10SP2 to 10SP3 — I will do this upgrade process by Patch cd update method.

From 10SP3 to 10SP4 — I will do this upgrade process by Patch cd update method.

And from 10SP4 to 11SP4 – Boot from 11SP4 DVD and select Update process.

Please give me you opinion about this…

Hi
You should be able to remove the old key/system via the SCC portal;
https://scc.suse.com/
As well as get to the media to download.

Your method appears to be correct following;
https://www.suse.com/releasenotes/x86_64/SUSE-SLES/11-SP4/#Update.General

If you change the 11-SP4 in the above to say 10-SP2 or 11 you will get
to the relevant release notes for each update step your wish to make.

You should when doing the 11-SP4 update register the system with the
new key.

Not sure how much of the SLE 10 media/patches etc remain…

There is no way you can do a fresh install?

The key you bought for SLES11 SP4 should also work to activate SLES10
SPx. However note that you would need to register your SLES10 SP2
against the Novell Customer Center (NCC) to pick up any available updates.

You will need to download the DVD ISO images to do this.

Ditto.

This is the correct procedure (upgrade each release of SLES10 to next,
before then upgrading to SLES11 SP4). TID 7008357[1] may help.

Note once you get to SLES11 SPx you can then choose to register your
server against the SUSE Customer Center (SCC).
