Installing SLES 11 SP2 on Hyper-V

Hi,
I’m attempting to install SLES 11 SP2 as a guest on on Hyper-V (Windows Server 2008 R2). I’ve created a 40GB ide drive in hyper-v manager for this install and assigned 4gb of RAM to the guest. When the install process attempts to format the drive, it just hangs at 98% and I have to shut down the guest. I’ve searched quite a bit but couldn’t find anything. Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

thanks,

pm[/QUOTE]Hi pmilza,
I had exactly same issue with my Windows 8 and Hyper-V when trying to install SLES 11 SP2 (SLES 11 SP1 didn’t work at all since no disks were found by the installer).
However, I managed to solve my problem by pre-allocating my virtual disk(s) - ‘fixed size’-disk instead of ‘dynamically expanding’.

This way I was able to install SLES without any problems.

I also noticed that if you use .VHD disks instead of .VHDX disks, SLES 11 SP2 64-bit installation will also succeed.
