currently I use SMT on SLES 10 SP4 (smt-1.0.17-0.5.2).
I need to migrate the server to new hardware with SLES 11 SP1 (or SP2) and smt-1.1.16-0.1.1.
How to migrate old configuration, database etc. to new server? What happens with active client registrations? Do I need run clientSetup4SMT.sh on each client again?
Hi
When you say new hardware, does this include disks? Or is the data
stored elsewhere (SAN etc). I would be tempted to just use dd and
transfer the disk data over to the new system and just upgrade.
Maybe some more info on the old hardware and new hardware would help.
I’m also assuming it will be the same arch as well?

Hi,
yes, the new hardware does include new local disks. The new server is already running with SLES11 but there is no problem to transfer the old SLES10 disk data and upgrade to SLES11 again. I think it’s a good idea.
