The Add-To-Desktop option in the Applications Menu is no longer present (SLES15 SP6, gnome-shell-extensions 45.2-150600.1.2). In previous versions (such as 41.2-150400.2.7 SLES15 SP4) this menuitem used to popup when holding the right mouse button down on any item in the Applications Menu so the icon could be added to the desktop. Unable to find any setting to enable this functionality. Has this functionality been removed permanently?
I asked this question on Gnome forum and got this response:
“You should ask that question in an SLES forum.
The apps-menu extension never had a context menu on launchers, so this is either a different extension, or one that was modified downstream.”
Hi, Add-To-Desktop extension doesn’t help. The extension that is supplied in the SP6 distribution is from gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons package. This supplies Desktop Icons NG (DING) as a built-in Extension. Same as SP5, however, with SP5 this extension included the Add To Desktop option for all items in the Application Menu.
The issue is with the apps-menu from gnome-shell-extensions in SP6. In SP4 and SP5 the applications menu had an Add To Desktop option. In SP6 it does not. Can find no way to add icons to desktop for any applications in the application menu.
