Offline install cloud 6

Hi

I am trying to setup suse openstack cloud 6 in my lab which doesn’t have Internet connectivity. I couldn’t find any offline installation procedure on this.

Can anyone help here?

Thanks
Sridhar

Hi,

please correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe there is no internet connection required to install SOC as long as you have the product images for SLES12 and the SOC 6 add-on, and a network connection between your admin server and your cloud nodes (control, compute, storage). I have recently installed the admin server in a cloud environment where I had no internet connection, I just didn’t have the time to install it completely. Is there any specific step you are failing at? Without an internet connection you would obviously fail to install updates, but I don’t think they are mandatory, I could be wrong though…

Regards,
Eugen

No there’s no need for an Internet connection although you may need
access to patches so either need a local SUSE Manager or SMT server or a
cached copy of patches

I presented on exactly this subject last November at SUSECON 2016 -
session TUT88917 Getting Started with SUSE OpenStack Cloud 6 for which
the slides are available at
https://susecon2016.smarteventscloud.com/connect/fileDownload/session/DEDE97F774768FE683D9486945B1E789/TUT88917.pdf

By default SUSE OpenStack Cloud has particularly networking requirements
so unless you have changed them you will need to match what it expects
when installing.

If you have questions after reviewing my presentation please reply here
and I’ll try to help.
