Hi, probably a FAQ, but can’t seem to find an answer. On the downloads there is the option to download an ISO or to download a vmdk and vmx files. If the installation is to be on ESXi is the vmdk and vmx going to provide the same as if I did the installation using the ISO? I imagine that it is, but as I mentioned, I cannot find an indication of what the vmdk and vmx installation state is.
Hi and welcome to the Forum
The vmx is the config (You can read with a text editor), the vmdk is the disk config. AFAIK it is still just the installer for selecting your install and will register and perform the online install. If want to do offline, then need to download the packages iso image to add to the system.
thank you for the info, much appreciated. I’ll use the ISO.
Hi
Probably the easiest way I do note a ML post today on a user having issues with vmdk/vmx file on ESX… and wanting to build an OVA file instead…https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-buildservice/2020-07/msg00010.html
