SLES11 SP4 unable to install. Problems with ISO image on web

I had posted this wrongly in SLED section hence posting again.

We have downloaded SLES 11 SP4 from Novell website. While trying to install on server, we found several errors and installation wont go through.

We have checked the MD5 checksum for downloaded ISO file. Also while installing there is an option to check media but that also goes through without any errors.

We have also tried to install using bootable usb drive and even there we got same errors. Leading us to believe that there may be some issue with the iso image on website.

The Server does not boot as many of packages fail to install.

Any alternative image available some where ? Or if someone is having it , can it be shared on the web?

For which architecture are you downloading SLES11 SP4 - x86,
AMD64/Intel64, IBM Power, Itanium, or System z?

Which hardware (make/model) are you installing to?

Do you have some specific error messages (or screenshots of) that you
can share?

HTH.

It is x86 32 bit system.

IBM x3620m3 server -7376-42A model
Xeon 4 core /4GB RAM/ 250gb x 5 sata hdds in raid5 array. Megaraid m1015 raid controller.
Partitioning/ formatting goes thru no problems.

The error mesg : —’ {Xxxxrpm name},failed to install ’ if you retry it comes up again. Only option is to ignore. But then system does not boot.

So are you using the x86[1] or AMD64/Intel64[2] download?

Please can you let us know the names of (at least some of) the packages
that fail to install … ?

packages are like this :
libwbclient 0-3.6.3.58.1.i586.rpm failed to install.
libtdbl-3.6.3-0.58.1.i586.rpm failed to install. And several names as such. There were 17 packages which failed to install.

Prior to this there there was a package named desktop ( I could not note the exact name) ; which is probably responsible for the actual desktop which appears after which the install program asks for root password etc. That fails to load and hence system does not boot into desktop and you get a text login. Since root password is not defined yet one cannot login.

Hi shekharfromnashik,

can you verify that you’re not simply running out of disk space?

Regards,
J

Thanks. We downloaded from the links provided and the installation has gone through fine.
