mlocate Package for SLES11?

Our backup software (Veeam) needs the mlocate program installed on Linux servers to be able to index the file system. I have not been able to find a package that installs mlocate under SLES 11. I did install the “findutils-locate” package, but that doesn’t seem to provide it either. Am I missing something?

Hi
What version of SLES?

It’s present in SLE 12 by the looks.

There is a SP3 version here;
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/search/SLE_11_SP3/

Just download the arch version and install, it’s not supported as such.

It is SLES11SP3. I think what was confusing me is that SLES still uses the older “locate” binary. Our Debian and Ubuntu servers use the newer “mlocate” binary. Apparently, Veeam just looks to see if mlocate is there. I ended up installing the package you listed and symlinking it to mlocate in /usr/bin. After that, Veeam sees it and passes the test properly.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi
Maybe send them a note about it?

Unless your going to use LTSS, then maybe consider upgrading to 12?

Is there a corresponding download for SLES 11 SP4? I tried changing the URL to end with SP4 but that just returns a 404.

Joe

Hi Joe
Can you rebuild the src rpm locally?

wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/search/SLE_11_SP3/src/mlocate-0.26-60.1.src.rpm
rpmbuild --rebuild mlocate-0.26-60.1.src.rpm

Else a user has copied it to their home repo and built for SP4;
https://software.opensuse.org/package/mlocate
